Traveling to Asturias

Our group is coming from Europe and the U.S., with most of the U.S. travelers coming from Chicago. Whether you are driving from Poland or flying from the U.S., please make your own travel arrangements.

You should plan to arrive in Asturias on 09 August 2026 and leaving on 16 Aug 2026.

Getting Around in Spain

Some of the European travelers will be driving with vans. U.S. travelers should either rent their own cars or team up with others to rent a car together. We are also working on renting one or two vans, especially for folks staying in Houses A and B.

Here is some info on driving in Spain. AAA has info on obtaining an international driving permit. Thanks so much, Lori, for these resources!

Looking for a beach vacation? Take the train from near Soto de Cangas to Ribadesella, a charming coastal town. Spain has an extensive (and confusing) network of rail companies and services. The Sebares to Ribadesella line is run by Renfe. See the Wikipedia article for TONS of info about the Spanish rail system.

  • Spain has the longest High Speed Rail (HSR) network in Europe and the second longest world-wide, to China.
  • There are 1,500 train trips every day (per Renfe).
